Jozef Kovalčik, director of the Slovak Arts Council, and his colleagues gave a lecture, as well as an extensive discussion, on the topic ‘What is the support of music from the state good for?’

The day should start properly. With the Breakfast. So we fed all the participants of this year’s Hevhetia ShowCase with music, information and a delicious breakfast.

The almost two-hour set full of jazz performed by the twenty musicians of the Elmhurst College Jazz Band has so far fulfilled the expectations of the audience in the sold-out hall of the Barracks / Kulturpark by young American musicians under the baton of Doug Beach.

On the eve of the concert of the American big band Elmhurst College Jazz Band, the musicians gave their Košice colleagues valuable advice about playing in a large group. There were practical examples of working with rhythm, game dynamics and arrangements.

The Spiš Artists’ Gallery is also a permanent partner of the Hevhetia publishing house. Every year, artists publishing their albums in the Košice publishing house perform in the concert hall. Prešov songwriter Edo Klena played his solo set there as it should be – live and acoustically.

The mini-series of inviting concerts for the Summer Music Festival Hevhetia was started by the Prešov singer Edo Klena in the Tatra Gallery in Poprad. His performance was a welcome addition to the opening of the exhibition of paintings Linea di mare by the Sardinian painter Marian Chelo.

As in previous years of GurmánFest, the visitors were entertained by the Prešov songwriter Edo Klena with his band Klenoty. There were songs from the current Vata album, as well as enlightened hits.

Hevhetia has traditionally made gastronomic sensations of Gurmánfest visitors in Košice’s City Park more pleasant. This year, the concert series on the Hevhetia stage started with the Košice jazz strike Erwin Kite with leader Ján Kopčák (saxophone).

One of the accompanying events to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Hevhetia’s publishing house on the music market was the DEBUT 2017 competition for young talents. Individuals and music groups were able to submit their competition compositions via the Hevhetia Summer Music Festival website. From the submitted recordings, the expert jury selected the singer and composer Zuzana Eperješiová from Košice with the stage name Skyva.
