Twenty years of producing records, ten annual editions of our festival, more than 280 CD and LP titles issued, an international community of compatible people …

I’ve spent time with Peter Motyčka, who compiled the 4 CD sampler and wrote the the text for our anniversary book, thinking about how to capture the essence of what has happened, and what keeps such a manifold group of artists together as well as the wider community associated with our modest wave symbol … We ended up agreeing that some kind of latent bonding element must exist, although it’s very difficult to comprehend and define it.

Maybe whatever it is that links all these projects lies in their content, stemming from empathy, emotion and energy …

I’m glad you’ve accepted the invitation to our celebration. I’m sure that together we’ll experience a wave of mutual empathy, many beautiful and sincere emotions, and we’ll feel the energy in the music which the HEVHETIA artists are going to present to us.

At the opening of the Hevhetia ShowCase festival, musician, arranger and pedagogue Ján Kopčák will make the atmosphere more pleasant with his saxophone playing. As a student he studied at prestigious music schools in Europe. He decided to pass on his experience and knowledge to students at home in Slovakia. He started building a jazz department at the conservatory in Košice focused on practical jazz playing supported by a theoretical basis. In the catalog of the Hevhetia publishing house you can find his album Cigarette after, which he recorded during his studies in Graz with his connoisseurs Filip Gavranovič and Luís Olivier.
